Walter Girl B's Room of Scientific Discovery and Kitty-Cat Cuteness

The room that Brianna has taken within the boarding house is a smallish bedroom located on the second floor, tucked out of sight and generally unnoticed by all. She keeps it tidy at all times, as Brianna prefers to keep things in their proper places, but with a happy cat bounding from here to there at times, it can sometimes get a little out of sorts.
Though Brianna can often be found more down in the workshop or attending to the automatons she's been charged with taking care of, there are moments of downtime in which she can be tracked down her lonely little room.

"Pappy an' I've been d-d-diggin' in th' backyard t' make our own little pond for th' ducks when they ain't so little anymore." A twitch at that mouth, mud streaked along his copper faceplates. "Ya t-t-think they ain't gonna be so cuddly when they grow up?"
no subject
"I think they'll be plenty cuddly." Paige reassured him, pulling up an extra fat worm, and with a bit of stealth, slipping it into where the littlest duckling was digging, hiding the sight from the others with her other hand so he had enough time to gulp it down without his siblings trying to steal a bite or two.

"H-hope so. Kinda attached t' th' little guys." More than just a little, Rabbit. Come on now. "I know they'll wanna stay outside in th' pond when their bigger, b-but hope they don't forget 'bout me t' g-go an' wing it with th' other ducks.."
no subject
"They'll probably be happy to crawl all over you even when they're grown up."
no subject
"Shore they will! Nothin' t' be worried 'bout, huh?" Rabbit was working to dig a bigger hole there between them, so the ducklings could gobble up some of those tasty insects all on their own. Still a bit too young to dig so far deep down on their own for the best worms, but at least they could pick up what they needed with some help from mama.

"Nothing at all!" She replied with a smile.

So each bird was delicately scooped up, some placed in Rabbit's hat and some curled together within Paige's skirt again, and the copper 'bot lead the small family home. "Thanks for yer help today, Paigey."
no subject
"Don't have to thank me, that was fun." She replied in a cheery tone. "It's not every day you and I get to do something that's not work-related." She wouldn't be mentioning 'maintenance' or 'repairs' right now, no need to spoil the good mood. Besides, that wasn't today anyways.
no subject
"Shore! We s-s-should do somethin' like this more often, huh?" Walter home already coming into view, the trek just a few minutes long. "Maybe just ya an' me next time. We can keep th' ducklin's at home."
no subject
Everyone should participate!
"How's epic pirate adventures sound?"

"Find all sorts of treasure to bring home and show the ducklings." And more mess to torment their companions with. Because what was adventure without a mess?

Before they crossed the threshold into the Walter's property, Rabbit leaned forward to press a muddy kiss t' Paige's cheek before dragging her to the yard, where Mocha Road was rolling around with a wiggle of his fuzzy rump in the grass and where a certain Walter Girl wasn't too far off enjoying the weather....
"Absolutely! I bet between th' two o' us, we'd manage t' find a whole buncha adventure together. An' treasure." Mmm, treasure.
no subject
That kiss got a bit of a wider grin out of her, even as she was carefully moving the ducklings she'd been carrying in with the ones Rabbit had, glancing thoughtfully Brianna's way.
Was that a grin that promised trouble?
That was a grin that promised all sorts of trouble.
no subject
How could the copper 'bot not eagerly help in taking his lightly snoozing ducklings back, shooting his companion and encouraging grin. "G-g-go for it!"
no subject
So he gets a cheeky wink as the Walter Girl goes sneaking across the yard, making sure to stay out of Brianna's view. The other woman would just try and run, and that was no fun!
"Hiya B!" Just as she leapt to tackle her friend to the grass in a very muddy hug.
no subject
"Paige!" Though even when that initial fright and the fact her pristine white uniform was now covered in mud, Brianna couldn't help but giggle as she wiggled beneath the other woman, attempting to get as far away as possible from that hug. "You can't go around tackling people like that!"
And yes, that would be one Rabbit, laughing loudly and wildly from just across the yard, the distinct sound of metal on metal as he slapped his knee.
no subject
"Besides, you have to say hi to Mister Squiggles!" Because she's a horrible person, obviously. Why are you friends with her again? Because that there is a worm she just put down your dress.
no subject
The shorter of the Walter Girls shoved her way out from under her friend forcefully, moving to stand up before she was flailing about, plucking at her dress once the muddy thing was felt squirming there within her clothing-- Gross gross gross gross.
"Paige, you jerk! I can't believe you would do tha-AH! Get it out! Get it out!"
no subject
Paige let herself be shoved away, landing in the grass on her back, cackling at the sight of Brianna all but dancing around like she was to try and eject the worm.
"H-he just wants to be f-f-friends!" She managed between laughs.
no subject
Now he was skidding to a halt in the back yard, booted feet digging furrows in the grass (he'd fill them back in later). There... didn't appear to be anything to scream about, did there? Just an awful lot of mud and a squirming B. What even.
"Is, uh... is everythin' all right out here?" Seriously ladies, if he had a heart it would've nearly leaped out of his chest when the screaming started.
no subject
Which she might have begun if the problem wasn't solved soon enough.
"She-she-ugh-She put a worm in my cloth-Oh gross!!" But that finally signaled the creature had slid it's way down that skinny body of hers--BLAGH--and fell to the ground from under her poofed skirt, Brianna practically leaping backwards away from the worm, despite the fact it certainly wasn't going to fly back up at her, still squirming in distaste. "I can't believe you did that! That isn't funny, Paige!"
no subject
Mister Squiggles was scooped back up, and tossed towards the garden beds where it could disappear in peace, before she pushed to her feet, beaming at Brianna cheerily.
"Aww, but now you can ask Mister Spine to help you clean up!" Really Brianna, she was only looking out for you.
no subject
...Laugh. It was going to happen anyway, partially out of relief that it hadn't been something horrible and partially because it was a worm. He tugged down the brim of his fedora, turning his face away from them in an effort to hide his grin.
Not that he was finding the situation all that funny for long--Paige's comment had his quiet chuckling choking into a sputter of steam. Oh good grief.
He almost wished his double hadn't shared, because comments like that would have been so much easier to ignore.
no subject
"Oh no you don't--" And that would be one mud-covered B swooping forward to hug her boyfriend, skinny arms slipping around his middle as that dirty uniform was pressed right up against those pristine clothes of his. Take that for laughing at her pain! Worms are really gross, okay.
